Matt Hearn

Lead Pastor
Matt is a husband and father who feels strongly called of God to do what he is now doing… planting a new church.
 
Having been raised in a pastor’s home as a child, then drifting away from his spiritual roots, Matt was blessed to experience God’s grace in a powerful way during High School. After answering the call of God following a mission trip to Russia, Matt spent the next few years seeking God’s will through his educational experiences at Asbury College and then Asbury Seminary.
 
Feeling that God was calling him to ministry in the Methodist Church, he found an open door at White Bluff United Methodist Church in Savannah. Eventually, he came to understand that God was calling him to exercise his gifts in the planting of a new church. Gateway Community Church is the beginning of a dream in Matt’s life to express his leadership abilities, entrepreneurial spirit, and heart for the lost, in the establishment of a church that will thrive on the edge of adventure for God.
 
The Lord has prepared Matt through a wide range of experiences to come to this place in his life. His wife Lori is excited and is committed to helping him see the vision through. With their young children, Emma and Jack, Matt and Lori have taken their place at the front of an exciting new church that is healthy and flourishing and moving forward by God’s Spirit.
